Not much has changed at NAS Pensacola since the December 6th shooting and murder of three young sailors. Despite some reviews and limited permission for Marines to conceal personal firearms, security remains largely unchanged. Military bases are still unprepared for active shooter scenarios or coordinated attacks, as confirmed by conversations with high-ranking personnel. The attacker was able to fire 169 rounds unchecked, and a slight change in timing could have endangered hundreds of pilot trainees.
Parents send their children to serve trusting that leadership will protect them, but this trust is misplaced due to poor decisions over recent decades. Service members remain vulnerable.
I urge you to contact elected officials to support arming military personnel on base and allowing concealed carry for those in uniform. Improved policies are needed to safeguard our service members and national security. The response time in Pensacola compared poorly to other incidents, highlighting the urgent need for action.
